CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — James Nelson Rockwell Jr. “Rocky,” 70, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010.

Born May 15, 1940, in Mercersburg, Pa., he was the son of the late James N. Sr. and Beulah Keyser Rockwell. Rocky graduated in 1959 from South High in Hagerstown, Md.

Upon graduation, he went to work for Sharrett Volkswagen, and then went to work at Mack Truck for over 30 years in Hagerstown as a mechanic.

An avid rifleman, he enjoyed target shooting. He was a member of the Chambersburg Pistol and Rifle Club, and a member of the Chambersburg Harley Hog Chapter. His other pastimes included fishing, fast cars, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and spending time with his grandchildren.


Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Jayne Irene Mills Rockwell, whom he married May 28, 1963; his loving son, James Nelson Rockwell III and wife Pamela of Gettysburg, Pa.; his cherished grandchildren, Bryan James and Rebecca Jayne Rockwell; and his sister Donna Smith and her husband John of Hagerstown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, 2010 in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, Pa., with Pastor Dave Arnold officiating. Entombment will follow the service in Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
