Budget, Program Open Space projects to be discussed at work session

FUNKSTOWN — Funkstown’s mayor and Town Council will discuss the current budget and upcoming Program Open Space projects during a 6 p.m. work session on Jan. 17 at Town Hall.

The meeting will give town officials a chance to see how effective budget cuts and changes are for this fiscal year, Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. said during a council meeting in Town Hall Monday night.

They also will talk about what kind of Program Open Space projects they’d like to see, Crampton said.

Clerk checking trash schedule for upcoming holidays

FUNKSTOWN — Trash was supposed to be picked up the Friday after Thanksgiving, a day late because of the holiday, but wasn’t picked up until that Saturday morning, Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. said during a Town Council meeting Monday night.

Town Clerk/Treasurer Brenda Haynes said the contractor was supposed to come on Friday, Nov. 26.

Crampton asked Haynes to check on whether the trash pickup would change for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Ultraviolet lighting system installed at sewer plant

FUNKSTOWN — A new ultraviolet lighting system was installed at Funkstown’s sewer plant to try to resolve a condensation issue, Mayor Paul N. Crampton Jr. said at a Town Council meeting Monday night.

Condensation from the ultraviolet part of the treatment process was damaging control boards, Crampton said in September.

Town officials will keep an eye on the new system to see how well it is working, he said.
