Va. man charged in W.Va. burglary

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A homeowner told police that he discovered a burglar early Monday in the kitchen of his Bunker Hill, W.Va., home with his pants down around his ankles, according to Berkeley County Magistrate Court records.


Derek Randall Murillo, 24, of 20905 Fowlers Mill Circle, Ashburn, Va., was arraigned Monday on one count of nighttime burglary and one count of obstruction by Magistrate Harry L. Snow, according to court records.


Murillo was arrested after police responded to the home in the 12000 block of Winchester Avenue just before 4 a.m. to investigate a report of a burglary in progress, according to court records.


The burglar entered the home through an unlocked door, according to a complaint filed by Berkeley County Sheriff’s Deputy John Giangola.

When police arrived, the man was still in the kitchen of the home and did not respond to several police orders that he turn around before he was detained, according to court records.


The homeowner told police that he did not know the burglar’s intent or why he was in his home, according to court records.
