Leister B. Stottlemyer Jr., 80, of Foxville Road, Smithsburg, Md., passed away Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Washington County Hospital.

Born May 22, 1930 in Sabillasville, Md., he was the son of the late Leister B. Stottlemyer Sr. and Minnie M. (Eyler) Stottlemyer.

He was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, Class of 1948.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was employed by Double-Day Co. of Smithsburg, Letterkenny Army Depot of Chambersburg, and Site R/Fort Ritchie, retiring in 1990.

He was a member of the Mount Bethel United Methodist Church of Foxville, and the American Legion Clopper-Michael Post 10 of Boonsboro.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (Draper) Stottlemyer, whom he married April 11, 1956; children, Wayne B. Stottlemyer and wife Dani L. of Fairfield, Norma Jean Aravanis and husband Tony of Hagerstown, Lauren D. Stottlemyer of Fairfield, Donna Kay Fogle and husband Jim of Walkersville, and Beverly Ann Stottlemyer and husband John Paolino of Hagerstown; sisters Mary Buhrman, Anna Weikert, Katherine Brown and Martha Shaffer, all of Waynesboro, and Dorothy Buhrman of Sabillasville; brothers James E. Stottlemyer and Kenneth E. Stottlemyer, both of Sabillasville; grandchildren Amanda Yates, Cytha Stottlemyer, Charlie Stottlemyer, Stephanie Happel, Kimberly Happel, Bethany Happel, Jesse Stottlemyer, Noah Stottlemyer and Isaac Stottlemyer; great grandson Brady Yates, and nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Stottlemyer and Andrew Stottlemyer.

Services will be held Monday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m., from Mount Bethel United Methodist Church, Foxville, with the Rev. Ronald Kurtz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg.
