Mail Call - Dec. 6

December 10, 2010

"I believe those politicians who were approached about the robocalls and did not notify the election board are guilty also, and shouldn't be allowed to take office until this matter is settled." - Hagerstown

"I'm really looking forward to the delegates' meeting at South High next month. All these people calling in to Mail Call, I'm sure they'll all be there and I'm sure they'll all sign up to speak. I'm there every year, I always sign up and speak about something - not necessarily a complaint, but sometimes suggestions. This is your opportunity, taxpayers, and the few of us that vote, which is sad. But yeah, the delegates' meeting is the time, and you can be recognized, because when you sign up to speak, you sign your name, and then when it comes to your turn, you introduce yourself to the crowd and the delegates, and then you talk about what you want to talk about." - Hagerstown
"Concerning reading in your paper, I believe, about country legend, country music legend Willie Nelson being arrested for marijuana use, of having marijuana in his bus and, I mean, why can't people just mind their business and all, out there today? And why don't they just make marijuana legal? Sure, they probably will later on, as long as the government, along with our U.S. government, gets their big share of the money. That's just the way it'll be." - Greencastle, Pa.
"I'm calling about the city council and the county commissioners. They're getting like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, trying to tell you want to do, where to plant things, don't plant things, do this, do that, charge you for it if you don't do it. That's taking away our freedoms. It sounds like they're Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, trying to take over our people, tell you what to feed your kids or what not to feed ... I think we ought to change - I know the city council, because they got their nose stuck in everything, and let the person or individuals ... take care of it themself." - Hagerstown
"I would like to know how I can get a soldier's name and address and send a gift package. I don't want to send it to an organization, or I don't want to donate to an organization. I want to get a gift package and put a soldier's name on it myself, and put it through the postal service. I went on the Internet, and all I get is organizations to donate money to. I don't want to do that. I want to do it myself. So if anybody has a soldier, a family member overseas, please give me a name and address and I will send them a really nice gift box." - Hagerstown
"I think Salem Avenue looks beautiful, and Roger Craig, your (group) did a wonderful job on the street. Thanks a lot." - Hagerstown
"About 10 years, eight or nine years ago, I put poinsettias on my mother and father-in-law's grave. Went back two weeks later, they were gone. All the other beautiful arrangements around that grave were still standing, so that means one certain person was after poinsettias and did not bother anything else. So it was not somebody just passing through looking." - Mount Lena
"I was just wondering, when are the Democrats going to learn to tell the truth and nothing but the truth, instead of all these lies?"- Blue Ridge  Summit, Pa.
"I see in the morning paper in Mail Call where a gentleman said that he was Republican, going Democrat. Well, he's not a Republican. A Republican's conservative. He votes for a conservative person, that's somebody saying that they're one party or the other party. I vote for the best person to do the job. I don't care who it is or what party they're in. I think Mr. Aleshire should run for mayor ... I wouldn't classify him as that." - Hagerstown
"Rep. Gerry Connolly was just on TV tonight, and he was really making a stink about the six-figure workers, the federal workers, their pay being frozen. Boy, I wish I only made a six-figure-a-year wage and it was frozen. We don't get a raise for two years or more. If only I had a six-figure pay to get frozen." - Cavetown
"I believe that all scooter sales should run a background check on people before they buy them, to make sure that the people buying them do not have previous DUIs, that the person who is at least 16 years old has had at least a driver's-ed course and knows the rules of the road. I believe that this would help ensure some safety on the roads. I've had near-accidents with people running lights and not obeying the rules of the road on these scooters, and I think something needs to really be done by the state." - Hagerstown
"I just can't understand why Republicans continue to block to extend unemployment claims for millions of Americans - millions of Americans, Republicans included, probably - but yet they want to give the rich tax cuts. How is that helping us? Could you please explain that to us? ... How's that going to create jobs? Hasn't created jobs in 15 years. Excuse me? You all voted them in. Great job, America, great job. You just killed this country. Wonderful." - Hagerstown
"Well, my family took the tour of the new Meritus hospital, and I'll guarantee you that is something we can really, really, really be proud of. It is state-of-the-art. I mean, it is really amazing, and it's, you know, it's really too bad that two years ago, five people or so held up that hospital and made it cost so much more money. They probably just didn't realize what they were doing because I'll tell you, ... if you see this hospital, you're absolutely going to love it. And as I said, we can really be proud of it." - Sharpsburg
"Hey, all you people complaining about Sarah Palin's popularity and her daughter doing so good on 'Dancing,' what about Donny Osmond and all his popularity, his TV and his California audience and his Utah audience? He couldn't dance either. And as far as good-looking making it for president, that's how John Kennedy did it. All the women, just about all the women, voted for him." - Hancock
"The Hagerstown caller that says to watch Fox News, that you're only watching what Glenn Beck and Limbaugh said. Well, maybe they don't watch it too much, because they got the Democrats and the Republicans both on there. So I think maybe they ought to look at again. Remember, the truth'll make you free, so maybe you ought to watch a little bit more and listen, and you'll know what the truth is." - Boonsboro

"I believe those politicians who were approached about the robocalls and did not notify the election board are guilty also, and shouldn't be allowed to take office until this matter is settled."
