Submit a correction to a published story

The Herald-Mail strives to be accurate and fair in all of our stories. Sometimes we make mistakes. If you believe we have made an error, please contact Executive Editor Jake Womer at 301-733-5131 ext. 7594, or by email at jakew@herald-mail.com. Errors made in page one stories will be corrected on page one. All other corrections will run at the top of page A2.

Announce a birth, engagement, or wedding

Announcements must be submitted in writing and received at The Herald-Mail office 10 business days prior to the date on which you'd like to see them published. Announcements also must include the name and telephone number of the person providing the information.

Announcements may also be:

  • delivered to The Herald-Mail offices at 100 Summit Avenue in Hagerstown;

The Herald-Mail charges $50 to print weddings and engagement announcements in the newspaper and to post them to WashingtonCountyWeddings.com. The charge is $30 for our subscribers. All submitted announcements must be legible; please include the signature and phone number of the person making the announcement.

Birth announcements require a signature from a parent (from both parents if last names are different).

Engagement announcements require both signatures from the couple and from parents who formally make the announcement.

We publish photos for engagements and weddings. Please send a sharp, clear photo, 3 by 5 inches or larger. Computer-printed images on photo paper are acceptable; do not use bond paper. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want us to return the photo. We also accept high-resolution JPEG or TIFF photo files via e-mail. Signatures also may be e-mailed as an attachment.

Offer feedback on a story that appeared in The Herald-Mail

In most cases, the reporter's email address is included as part of the byline in both the print and online editions of the story.

Submit a letter to the editor

Letters to the editor may be submitted to opinion@herald-mail.com, or mailed to our address to the attention of the Opinion department.

Purchase a copy of a photo or video I saw in the print or online edition

We're glad you asked! Most of the photos and videos that appear on herald-mail.com are available for purchase.

To purchase photo reprints, click here. You may purchase any Herald-Mail video on DVD for $23. Please be aware that the video will be exactly what is viewed online. Send an e-mail to Lesa Selders with the following information:

  • Your name
  • E-mail address
  • The online headline of the story
  • Description of the video

Please allow one to two weeks for delivery after payment has been processed.

Report a technical problem, or ask a question about the website

Technical inquiries should be directed to webmaster@herald-mail.com. If you are writing to report a problem, please include the complete text of any error messages you are receiving, the Web address of the page in question (if applicable; you can copy and paste it from the address bar in your browser), and the operating system and browser you are using (e.g., "Windows XP, Internet Explorer 8"). This information will be essential in diagnosing the problem.
