SILVER SPRING, Md. (AP) -- Authorities say 26 people including high school students were injured when a Metro bus rear-ended another Metro bus amid pouring rain in Silver Spring.
Montgomery County fire department Assistant Chief Scott Graham says the crash occurred just after 7 a.m. Thursday at University Boulevard West and Burnett Avenue. He says the injuries were non-life-threatening.
Schools spokeswoman Lesli Maxwell said eight students from Montgomery Blair High School were involved in the accident and that their parents had been notified.
Graham says the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard have been shut down.
A spokesman for Montgomery County Police says the accident was likely weather related, and Metro says one of the bus drivers was cited by police for "failing to control vehicle speed."
