WILLIAMSPORT - Roger Lee Long, 65, of 15023 Terra Lane in Williamsport, Md., passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Md.

Born May 23, 1945, in Washington County, Md., he was the son of the late James William Long and Gladys Marie (Snyder) Long, and late stepfather Clarence Leroy Sprecher.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Mr. Long was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad and several building contractors.

Roger was a member of the American Legion Post 517 in Mercersburg, Pa.

He is survived by four brothers, Michael Sprecher, Earl Sprecher and Ronnie Sprecher, all of Williamsport, and Tom Sprecher of Hagerstown; three sisters, Mary Grove, Betty Balosky and Jacquelin South, all of Hagerstown; and several nieces and nephews.


He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Services will be Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, Md. The Rev. Dennis Whitmore will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Clear Spring, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour befor the funeral service Friday.
