Lula May King, age 92, of Smithsburg, Md., passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown, Md.

Born April 3, 1918, near Clear Spring, Md., she was the daughter of the late Samuel Sherman McCarthy and Alta May Mills McCarthy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. King, in 1995.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Smithsburg and was a homemaker. She was a 1937 graduate of Clear Spring High School.

She is survived by five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret E. Good, in 1996; a son, John Edward King, in 2004; three sisters, Merle McCarthy, Bessie Lesher and Mary Reeder; and two brothers, John McCarthy and S. Earl (Mac) McCarthy.

Services will be Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring. The Rev. Richard Hembrock will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Clear Spring.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. before the service.
