Mrs. Veronica L. "Roni" (Spicer) Weaver, 46, of 321 Nottingham Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed peacefully at home with her family with her after a courageous two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born April 4, 1964, in Chambersburg, Pa. She was the daughter of Beverly A. "Bev." (Baker) Spicer of Mont Alto and the late Larry V. Spicer.

Veronica graduated from Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the class of 1982. She then attended Union Memorial School of Nursing in Baltimore for a short time. Veronica graduated from Award Beauty School in Hagerstown, Md., in 1985.

She and her husband, Mr. Craig S. Weaver, were married Oct. 5, 1985, in the former Wesley United Methodist Church in Mont Alto. They moved to the present residence in May 1994.

Following graduation from beauty school, she worked at J.C. Penney in Hagerstown as a hair stylist. She then opened Veronica Weaver Daycare Center in Hagerstown until her health made her close the daycare in February 2010.

She was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Hagerstown and the Washington County Daycare Association, where she served as secretary for several years.

Before her illness, she was active with Boy Scout Troop No. 26 in Hagerstown, which her boys were active in. Her younger son has almost finished his work for receiving his Eagle award. She served on both the Cub Scout and Boy Scout committees.

Veronica enjoyed being with her family, reading, working puzzles and word puzzles, and especially shopping.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by two sons, Sean C. Weaver and Jared M. Weaver, both of Hagerstown; one sister, Tammy J. Kauffman and husband Michael of Mont Alto; and her beloved dog Baxter, who was a constant companion to her through her illness.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Shane Spicer, who died in 1966.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, at Mont Alto United Methodist Church, 10 S. Main St., Mont Alto, Pa., with Pastor Ruth Hollister, the Rev. Harold Hollister and Chaplain Anjel Scarborough officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
