Byard's hat trick leads North to 3-1 victory over Brunswick

BRUNSWICK, Md. -- Ryan Byard scored all three of North Hagerstown's goals in the Hubs' 3-1 MVAL Antietam victory Tuesday over Brunswick.

Mavlyud Gilmanov, Niklas Grahn and Dominique Phillip each had an assist and Caleb Mittel had eight saves for the Hubs (7-1-1, 2-0).

Drew Demich scored on a penalty kick for the Railroaders (5-2, 1-1).

JV: North, 2-0.

Broadfording 5, Grace 0

Andy Torres recorded his 26th goal and third hat trick of the season to lead Broadfording Christian past Grace Academy (0-10, 0-8).


Brian Stocker and Justin Haldeman also scored and Andrew Wyand, Ryan Dominguez and Torres each had an assist for the Lions (10-3, 8-2).

Mercersburg 5, Landon School 1

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- Joey Roberts had two goals for Mercersburg Academy in a win over Landon School.

Gui Gomez had a goal and an assist, Jake Shorr and Taku Yumane added a goal apiece and Tucker Sandercock, Alfred Hilton-Dei and Ahmed Abel-Latif each had an assist for the Blue Storm (5-2).

JV: Mercersburg, 2-1.

Clear Spring 4, Catoctin 1

CLEAR SPRING -- Matthew Blair scored twice to lead Clear Spring past Catoctin (3-3-1, 0-2).

Dylynn Bartles scored on a corner kick, Josh Ernst added a goal on a penalty kick and Blake Vincent and Joel Bates each had an assist for the Blazers (5-4, 1-1).

Goretti 2, Martinsburg 0

Vince Turano scored both goals, Mateo Pelja had an assist and John Winalski had 12 saves as St. Maria Goretti (6-4-4) shut out Martinsburg (1-8-4).

Williamsport 5, Boonsboro 0

WILLIAMSPORT -- Jordan Payne had a hat trick in a shutout of Boonsboro (0-7, 0-2).

Cody Gardenhour and Owen Marx each scored a goal, Bradley Miller had two assists and Alex Aleshire had six saves for the Wildcats (4-3-1, 2-0).

Shalom 6, Heritage 1

Jeffrey McCracken, Brandon Crider and Tyler Strite each two goals for Shalom (10-2, 9-1).

Christian Strickler scored Heritage's lone goal on a penalty kick, and Christian Strickler had 16 saves for the Eagles (6-4, 6-4).


Saint James 4, Hancock 0

SAINT JAMES -- Alyssa Glass had two goals and an assist for Saint James in a shutout of Hancock (1-7).

Mary-Kate Afzali had a goal and an assist, Madison Fahey had a goal and Rose Chuimento had seven saves for the Saints (4-4).

Clear Spring 3, Catoctin 3

THURMONT, Md. -- Alyssa Brandt and Bethany Bowers each scored a goal for Clear Spring in its tie with Catoctin.

Miranda Kearney had an assist, Cayla Garner had 13 saves and the Blazers (4-3-1, 0-1-1) scored one of its goals on a keeper mishandle by Catoctin.

Hayley Crum scored all three goals for Catoctin.


Heritage 3, Shalom Christian 0

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Kara Stamper had 15 kills, five service points, three aces, four digs and three blocks to lead Heritage Academy in a 25-9, 25-10, 25-14 sweep of Shalom Christian.

Callie Butts had 25 assists, three aces and four kills, Jessica Gaylor had 16 service points, six aces and three kills, Stephanie O'Brien had seven service points, an ace and seven digs and Rachel Clarke had four service points, an ace, four kills and seven digs for the Eagles (10-0, 10-0).

Holly Andriene had five kills, five blocks and seven digs, Stacey Thrush had four kills, seven digs, four service points and an ace, Ashlyn Blank had 11 digs and two blocks, Kristen Blank had four assists, Kelsey Ebersole had three assists and Karlee Wise had six digs for the Flames (6-6, 5-5).

North 3, Brunswick 0

Autumn Fisher had 10 kills and four blocks for North Hagerstown in a 25-15, 25-13, 25-15 sweep of Brunswick (1-5, 0-2).

Akilah McCall had eight kills, Rachel Ober had six kills and seven digs and Brynne Kirsch had 30 assists for the Hubs (5-1, 2-0).

Greencastle 3, Waynesboro 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. -- Erin Garns had 19 service points and six digs as unbeaten Greencastle-Antrim swept winless Waynesboro (0-9) 25-13, 25-11, 25-6.

Jenny Fisher had nine service points and seven digs, Alex Baughman had 10 service points, Sammi Rudy had nine service points and five digs, Natasha Gibble had nine service points, Nakita Gearhart had six service points, two aces and five kills, Lauren Verhoef had seven kills and Morgynn McKenzie had 12 kills for the Blue Devils (8-0).

Boonsboro 3, South 0

Amber Welch had nine assists, eight kills and two aces to lead Boonsboro in a 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 sweep of South Hagerstown (1-6, 0-2).

Sydney Parks had two blocks and four kills, Tiffany Rohrer had three aces and 29 digs, Shelby Griffith had nine assists and two aces and Gabrielle Smallwood had seven kills for the Warriors (2-4, 1-1).

Victoria Pearl had 23 assists for the Rebels (1-6, 0-2) while Hayley Freeman had 11 service points, four kills and five digs, Brianna Burnett had six kills and five blocks and Courtney Showe had five kills, six service points and nine digs for the Rebels.
