WELSH RUN, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a man who allegedly shot a woman near Greencastle late Saturday, according to a police news release.

The 42-year-old woman was hospitalized but expected to recover, police said.

Police found the 43-year-old man dead at 6820 Dumeny Road between 11 p.m. and midnight Saturday, the release states.

The rifle used in the shooting was recovered by police, Trooper Aaron Martin said in a phone interview.

"There is no danger to the public," he said. "We're not actively looking for anyone."

Martin said the man and woman knew each other, but he declined to identify the people involved.

Police were able to speak briefly with the woman, Martin said.

"Obviously there are interviews that need to be done and other things," he said of the continuing investigation.

Martin said he was unsure who reported the incident to authorities.

The home appears to be on a stone driveway not far from Welsh Run Road in Montgomery Township, Pa. The winding, rural road is dotted with single-family houses and farms.
