Thomas Freeman Prosser Jr., 68, of 21425 Mount Aetna Road, Hagerstown, Md., passed away Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at his home.

Born Friday, Feb. 6, 1942, in Ashland City, Tenn., he was the son of the late Thomas Freeman Prosser Sr. and Hazel Barnett Prosser of Nashville, Tenn.

He graduated from Cumberland High School in Nashville, Tenn. He retired in 2007 from the Review and Herald, after 34 years of service. He was a member of Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruth B. Prosser; daughter, Judy K. Prosser of Hagerstown, Md.; two sons, Tony R. Cannon of Nashville, Tenn., and John K. Prosser of Hagerstown, Md.; five sisters, Shirley Newlin of Nashville, Tenn., Mary Sue Prosser of Nashville, Tenn., Barbara Harshaw of Nashville, Tenn., Dorothy Demontigny of Dubois, Wyo., and Martha Stokes of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, James R. Prosser of Hagerstown, Md.; granddaughter, Addison Faith Prosser; and grandson, Brandon Cannon.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Services will be Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Hagerstown Seventh-day Adventist Church, 11507 Robinwood Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742, with Pastor Rick Remmers officiating.

Family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD 21742, from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26.

Interment will follow in Beaver Creek Cemetery, Beaver Creek, Md.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
