Hubs get by Blazers again

CLEAR SPRING -- Max Psillas scored two goals on free kicks, including the game-winner in double overtime, to lead North Hagerstown to a 2-1 win over Clear Spring on Thursday.

Caleb Mittel had three saves for the Hubs (6-1-1), who have defeated the Blazers three times this season. They beat them 1-0 in the final of the Washington County tournament last weekend.

Ralph Weaver scored on a penalty kick and Levi Bucher had six saves for the Blazers (4-4), who were outshot, 13-11.

JV: Tie, 1-1.

Williamsport 3, Catoctin 0

THURMONT, Md. -- Jordan Payne, Brendon Colliflower and Connor Arnone each scored a goal as Williamsport shut out Catoctin.

Bradley Miller, Owen Marx and Cody Gardenhour each had an assist and Alex Aleshire had six saves for the Wildcats (3-3-1, 1-0), who outshot Catoctin (3-2-1, 0-1), 30-6.

Northern 2, Greencastle-Antrim 0

GREENCASTLE, Pa. --Seth Sprague had six saves for Greencastle-Antrim (4-6-1) in a loss to Northern.

Brunswick 4, Smithsburg 1

SMITHSBURG -- Drew Demich had three goals for Brunswick (5-1, 1-0) in a win over Smithsburg.

Anthony Lukens also scored for the Railroaders.

Clayton Layman had a goal, Christian Rejonis had six saves and Nick Porter had 11 saves for the Leopards (2-5, 0-1).

BRUNSWICK, Md. -- Rachel Poffenberger scored on an assist from Elyse Koterwas for Smithsburg, which tied Brunswick (2-3-1) in the MVAL Antietam opener for both teams.

Morgan Moser had 18 saves for the Leopards (1-3-1).

Tori Poffenberger had two goals and an assist to lead Boonsboro in a shutout of South Hagerstown (0-5, 0-1).

Ashlyn Hawbaker each had a goal and Amber Smith had an assist for the Warriors (4-3, 1-0), who outshot South, 20-0.

Hancock 5, Bishop Walsh 3

HANCOCK -- Brooke Mann, Sarah Mann, Tatem True, Sydniy Mabey and Micki Castle all scored as Hancock beat Bishop Walsh for its first win of the season.

Amber Divelbiss had an assist and Kelsie Munch had six saves for the Panthers (1-6).

FREDERICK, Md. -- Meghan Cordell had 18 digs for St. Maria Goretti in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-21 loss to Maryland School for the Deaf.

Jean Hogan had 11 assists for the Gaels (1-7).

SMITHSBURG -- Taylor Belella had 40 assists, five kills and three blocks for Smithsburg in a 25-18, 25-8, 25-16 sweep of Boonsboro.

Sara Rishell had 23 kills, 11 digs and four blocks, Karah Knight had 11 service points and five digs and Danielle Harbaugh and Danielle Beaver had five kills each for the Leopards (6-0, 1-0).

Ashley Smothers had two blocks and two kills, Tiffany Rohrer had 28 digs and Shelby Griffith and Amber Welch had five assists each for the Warriors (1-4, 0-1).
