Pa. 316 South to close Wednesday evening to Thursday morning

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- Pa. 316 South (Wayne Highway) will be closed and traffic detoured from 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, to 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 7, a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesman said Wednesday.

Contractors for a bridge replacement project in Washington Township just north of the Maryland line will be setting bridge beams in place, Michael Crochunis said in an e-mail.

Northbound traffic will be detoured on Md. 60, Md. 418, Md. 64, Pa. 997 and Pa. 316. Southbound traffic will be detoured on Pa. 316, Pa. 997, Md. 64, Md. 418 and Md. 60.

Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. of Baltimore was awarded a $1.9 million contract to replace the bridge. The project started in May and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2011.
