Basket bingo to be held at Red Men Lodge Oct. 3



A Longaberger basket bingo event will be held Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Improved Order of Red Men Lodge 84 in Williamsport.

It is a fundraiser to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Doors open at 11 a.m., chicken dinner is at noon and bingo starts at 1 p.m.

The event features 25 games, raffles, cash warm-up game, 50/50 and door prizes.

The public is invited.

Tickets cost $25 each or two for $40 and include the meal. This is a nonsmoking event.

Mom and Dad get a night out



Enjoy "Mom's and Dad's Night Out" Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. with a cruise-in in the first block of North Conococheague Street in Williamsport.

An Elvis tribute show will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in front of Town Hall by T&T Rocking Entertainment.

The event supports the revitalization of the town center.

Pete Jessop Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled



The third annual Charles "Pete" Jessop Memorial Golf Tournament will be Saturday at Greencastle Greens, beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Book signing to be held Sunday at the museum



Linda Barron Heinrich, author of "Jason's Helmet," will hold a book signing and present the story of her uncle, Jason Barron, at the Town Museum on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The book tells the true story of his helmet's journey home from the battlefield in France, more than 65 years after his death. Jason's helmet was presented to his brother, Emerson "Red" Barron, who is Linda's father.

Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be served.

Class of 1953 plans reunion



Williamsport High School class of 1953 will hold its annual reunion Saturday, Oct. 9, at noon at Western Sizzlin' steak house, 17567 York Road, just off Halfway Boulevard.

WHS class of 1948 plans 62nd reunion



The Williamsport High School class of 1948 will hold its 62nd class reunion Saturday, Oct. 2, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Western Sizzlin' steak house, 17567 York Road in Halfway.

o World War II Weekend, Oct. 8 to 10, includes a Friday night movie, Salute to all Soldiers parade, mess tent, re-enactors and 1940s fashion show.

Legion Auxiliary to hold Chili Cookoff and Cruise-in



American Legion Auxiliary, Potomac Unit 202, will hold its second annual chili cookoff Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Attendees can sample the entries for a $5 donation. Corn bread and fixin's will also be provided.

Classic/antique car owners are invited to cruise in and show off their automobiles. There is no fee for the cruise-in and no prizes will be awarded.
