Ruby E. (Mates) Lambert, 96, formerly of Keedysville, Md., passed away Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at Tranquillity of Fredericktowne Assisted Living in Frederick, Md.

Born May 27, 1914, in Rohrersville, Md., she was the daughter of the late Winton E. and Lena (Miller) Mates.

Her husband, Earl G. Lambert, preceded her in death in 1994.

Mrs. Lambert was a 1931 graduate of Boonsboro High School and formerly had been an employee with Pangborn Corp. in Hagerstown.

She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Keedysville, where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and served as the organist.

Ruby was a leader with the 4-H Youth Development Organization, a volunteer at Ravenwood Lutheran Village in Hagerstown, and assisted with the Meals on Wheels program.

She is survived by her son, Donald A. Wyand and his wife, Emogene, of Frederick; two grandchildren, Stephanie Wyand Inners and her husband, Jim, of Oro Valley, Ariz., and Donald E. Wyand and his wife, Deanna, of Lititz, Pa.; and her four great-grandchildren, Dalton and Weston Inners and Emily and Allison Wyand.

A funeral ceremony will be Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. David B. Kaplan and the Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Keedysville.

Friends are invited to visit at the funeral home beginning Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010, at 9 a.m., where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
