September 21, 2010

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post 1599 has been cited by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for allegedly violating regulations for small games of chance in April and May, according to a press release.

In the release, police alleged the VFW paid out more than $5,000 per week and failed to maintain complete records. They also said the club awarded an individual prize of more than $500 for any single chance and used games' revenue for purposes not allowed under state law.

The VFW can sign a waiver and receive a fine, or choose to appear before an administrative law judge. The release stated that fines can range from $50 to $5,000, and the judge can impose license suspension or training.
