Extension cord might have caused Mount Aetna Road shed fire



An extension cord that was powering several lights is believed to have caused a fire that burned a storage building early Tuesday on Mount Aetna Road east of Hagerstown, according to a press release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office.

It took 30 firefighters about 20 minutes to control the fire, which started about 1:25 a.m. in a wood-frame building at 20837 Mount Aetna Road, the fire marshal said.

The fire caused about $10,000 in damages to the structure and about $5,000 in damages to the contents, the fire marshal said.

Firefighters from Mount Aetna, Funkstown, Smithsburg, Leitersburg, Boonsboro and Hagerstown responded to the scene, the fire marshal said.

Washington County Sheriff's Office respond to incidents



The following incidents were reported Monday by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

o A door was damaged and four bottles of liquor were reported stolen from the 14100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

o Tools were reported stolen from a truck in the 11200 block of Youngstoun Drive.

o An attempted scooter theft was reported in the 11900 block of Robinwood Drive.

o An attempted theft was reported in the 17700 block of Virginia Avenue.

o A cell phone was reported stolen in the 1400 block of Dual Highway.

o An iPod was reported stolen in the 18000 block of Norman Drive.

o A wallet and cash were reported stolen in the 17300 block of Virginia Avenue.

o Cash was reported stolen from the 11500 block of Twinbridge Court.

o Motor Vehicle Administration stickers were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1900 block of Dual Highway.

o Items were reported stolen from two vehicles on South Conococheague Street.

Franklin County Emergency services report incidents



CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The following incidents were reported Monday by Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services.

o At 4:02 p.m., a house fire was reported in the 100 block of Cleveland Avenue in Waynesboro, Pa.

o At 4:55 p.m., a brush fire was reported at Hager and Warmspring roads in Peters Township, Pa.

o At 5:15 p.m., an auto accident was reported in the 1300 block of Lincoln Way East in Guilford Township, Pa.

Waynesboro Police Department responds to incidents



WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The following incidents were reported by the Waynesboro Police Department.

Friday

o At 2:31 a.m., a disabled vehicle was reported in the 100 block of West Second Street.

o At 10:08 p.m., a hit and run was reported in the 100 block of North Potomac Street.

Saturday

o At 2:04 a.m., two men were arrested for fighting in the 200 block of West Third Street.

o A traffic accident was reported in the 700 block of East Main Street. The time of the accident was not given.

Sunday

o At 10:14 a.m., retail theft was reported in the 300 block of West Main Street.

Monday

o At 9:12 a.m., a hit and run was reported in the 100 block of Garfield Street.
