CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Even with about $74 million in renovations and additions that are expanding Chambersburg Area Senior High School to about 509,000 total square feet, this school year has started without a hitch, according to Assistant Principal Brad Ocker.
"We had a very smooth opening with little to no issues whatsoever," Ocker said.
To get ready for the 2010-11 school year, Ocker said every teacher had to change classrooms, which required the help of the district's entire custodial crew.
"Overall, I'm extremely pleased," Ocker said. "I've had people tell me that this might have been one of the smoothest and best starts we've ever had here at Chambersburg High School."
Ocker had nothing but compliments for the construction and custodial crews who made sure the new buildings were complete, cleaned and ready to go for the first day.
"The technology department has done a phenomenal job, as well," he said. "It's exciting when you walk into every one of our rooms; each classroom has a SMART Board, so now all students have access to technology, as well as teachers' instruction can be improved."
