ROUZERVILLE, Pa. -- The person killed in a two-vehicle accident Sunday night on Midvale Road has been identified as 16-year-old Anthony R. Barlup II.

On Monday, Washington Township, Pa., police and Franklin County (Pa.) Coroner Jeffrey R. Conner identified Barlup, of Waynesboro, Pa., as the passenger who died in the head-on collision about a half-mile from the Maryland state line. The accident was reported shortly before 8:15 p.m.

Seven people were injured the crash; three of them were flown by helicopter to hospitals in Hershey, Pa., and York, Pa., due to the extent of their injuries, police said.

Police did not release the identities of the seven injured victims or updates on their conditions.

Barlup was a ninth-grader at Waynesboro Area Senior High School, Principal Christopher Dennis said.

"We had additional counselors on site (Monday) to help students with any feelings or emotions they were having with the death of Anthony," he said.

Another Waynesboro student, Angalena K. Robinson, died of injuries suffered in a Quincy Township, Pa., crash in late July.

Conner said Barlup was not wearing a seat belt while riding in the back seat of a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am that police said crossed the center line. The car collided with a 2003 Ford F250, which remained teetering on a guardrail hours later as emergency responders cleaned up the scene.

Four people from the pickup truck, including two small children, were taken to Waynesboro Hospital. The driver was transferred to Hershey Medical Center, police said.

Officer Jim Prohaska said at the scene that the children were expected to fully recover from their injuries.

"You can tell just by looking at it that speed was a factor" in the crash, Prohaska said.

The driver of the Pontiac was taken to Hershey Medical Center, and the front-seat passenger was taken to York (Pa.) Hospital. A passenger in the back with Barlup was taken to Washington County Hospital in Hagerstown.

Both vehicles sustained major damage.

Police said they were continuing to investigate the accident.

Conner said in a press release that an autopsy will be performed Tuesday, Sept. 28.
