The Bladens



Kenneth and Edna Bladen of South Pointe in Hagerstown celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary Aug. 30. They were married at Addison Chapel in Seat Pleasant, Md., in 1947.

They have been blessed with three children, Gary and his wife, Sharon, of Hamilton, Mont.; Wayne and his wife, Barbara, of Myersville, Md.; and Holly and her husband, Brain Wallace, of Walkersville, Md. They have four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bladen is a veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean War.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Bladen retired from Vitro Corporation (BAE) in 1983.

Mr. Bladen works part-time in the book store at the Antietam Battlefield.

The Morningstars



Morris William "Bill" and Judith Ann Morningstar of Smithsburg celebrated 50th years of marriage on Sept. 3, 2010. They were married Sept. 3, 1960, by Pastor George Bowden at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown.

Mr. Morningstar is the son of the late Carrie V. Semler. He served four years in the U.S. Navy. He retired after 35 years from Hardell Fuel Oils. He also had his own business, M.W. Morningstar Heating and Air Condition. He currently works at Lowes.

Mrs. Morningstar is the granddaughter of the late Fred L. and Edna A. Cronise, who raised her. She is the daughter of the late Nevin B. Cronise and the late Marjorie Kroeger. She works part time at Gymboree in Hagerstown.

Mr. and Mrs. Morningstar owned and operated Morningstar Manor Country Crafts for approximately 20 years. Mrs. Morningstar also had a partnership in the Heart of the Morning Store at Beaver Creek Station.

The Morningstars have three children, Keldra Morningstar of Smithsburg; Machelle Morningstar Lowe of Waynesboro, Pa.; and William D. "Doug" Morningstar of Sharpsburg and Washington, D.C. They also have two grandsons, Zachary W. Morningstar, son of Keldra, and Lucas Lowe, son of Machelle.

They enjoy spending time at Folly Beach and Charleston, S.C. A family cruise to the Carribean is scheduled Nov. 20 to 27, to celebrate this occasion.

On Sept. 3, 2010, the Morningstars had dinner at Old South Mountain Inn, which is where they became engaged. A party was held at their home Sept. 11, 2010, for family and friends.
