OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Jordan Elizabeth Kline graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in paralegal studies from Stevenson University on May 21.

While at Stevenson, Kline earned membership in Sigma Alpha Pi, the National Honor Society of Leadership and Success, Alpha Chi Honor Society and Lambda Epsilon Chi Honor Society.

Kline has been accepted into the master's program at Stevenson University for the fall semester and will continue her studies in the field of forensics.

She is employed as a paralegal for Semmes, Bowen and Semmes law firm in Baltimore.

She is the daughter of John and Joni Kline of Hagerstown and the granddaughter of Phyllis Kline and the late John Kline of Hagerstown and Mike and Nancy Hovis of Smithsburg.


She is a 2006 graduate of Smithsburg High School.

Amber Keck is attending Penn State in State College, Pa.

This is her second year. She attended Penn State Mont Alto her freshman year.

She is studying astronomy and astrophysics.

While at Mont Alto, she was named to the dean's list in the fall and spring semesters.

She graduated from Clear Spring High School in 2009, where she was co-valedictorian. She also was in the National Honor Society with a 4.39 grade-point average.

She is the daughter of Julie Taylor of Clear Spring, and the granddaughter of Artie and Sandie Barnhart of St. Thomas, Pa.

STEVENSON, Md. - Marisa H. Bender received a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry, graduating magna cum laude from Stevenson University.

While at Stevenson, Marisa was a member of the Gamma Sigma Epsilon Chemistry Honor Society, the Kappa Mu Epsilon Math Honor Society, as well as the Sigma Alpha Pi Leadership Society.

Marisa was a member of the Stevenson University Mustangs volleyball team, and was recently named the Capital Athletic Conference Unsung Hero Award winner - the first Stevenson student-athlete and first conference volleyball player to be selected in the award's 14-year history.

Marisa is continuing her post-graduate studies, pursuing a master's in forensic science chemistry track at Stevenson.

She is a 2006 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

Marisa is the daughter of Laurie and Eric Bender of Hagerstown, and the granddaughter of Mary Johnson and Charles Johnson of Hagerstown, and Marilyn Bender and the late Donald Bender of Waynesboro, Pa.

LATROBE, Pa. - Tanner Beal of Hagerstown, a freshman, has been elected a class senator at Saint Vincent College. The college recently elected positions on the Student Government Senate.

Beal is majoring in political science.

The students were elected by their peers and will serve until the end of the spring 2011 semester. The student government group acts as a liaison between the administration and the student body.
