Turano helps Gaels blank Knights

Vince Turano had two goals and an assist as St. Maria Goretti shut out Grace Academy 5-0 on Friday night.

Nick Buckner had two goals, Thomas Blake added a goal and Austin Longnecker and Kevin Proctor each had an assist for the Gaels (4-4-3).

Daniel Frederickson made 23 saves for the Knights (0-7).

Potomac 3, Saint James 0

McLEAN, Va. -- Aadil Iqbal had 12 saves for Saint James (1-4), but the Saints were shut out by Potomac School.

Broadfording 4, CVCS 2

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Andy Torres scored two goals for Broadfording Christian in a Mason Dixon Christian Conference win over Cumberland Valley Christian.


Trevor Snodderly had a goal and an assist, Michael Torres had a goal and Andrew Wyand had two assists for the Lions (7-2, 5-2).

Nathan Kerns scored both goals for Cumberland Valley Christian (2-5-1, 1-5-1).

Broadfording 3, Smithsburg 2

Trevor Snodderly scored two goals to lead Broadfording past Smithsburg (1-3) on Thursday night.

Andy Torres also scored for the Lions. Ryan Dominguez, Ryan Haldeman and Michael Torres each had an assist.


Hedgesville 0, Washington 0

HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. -- The Eagles and Patriots played to a scoreless draw Thursday.

Kaite Allen made 16 saves for Hedgesville.


Landon 34, Mercersburg Academy 14

MERCERSBURG, Pa. -- The Blue Storm suffered their first loss of the season on Friday night, falling to Landon School (2-0).

Lou Buschi completed 19 of 29 passes for 125 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for a 3-yard score for Mercersburg (1-1). Mike Howland made seven catches for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Lorenzo Vazquez added six catches for 35 yards.

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- Ariana Litten had six kills, five aces and eight digs to lead Broadfording Christian in a 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 sweep of Cumberland Valley Christian (3-5, 3-4) in the MDCC.

Kelli Crider had 27 assists, Sarah Couch had 12 kills and Maria Pifer added 11 kills for the Lions (6-2, 5-2).

Grace Academy 3, Goretti 0

Victoria Broadwater had nine kills and five digs for Grace Academy in a 25-11, 25-18, 25-16 sweep of St. Maria Goretti.

Caitlin Cox had 24 assists, Tori Aikens had 11 service points, Kelsey Koontz and Camille Sprecher had five digs, Brooke Morgan had seven kills and Heather Groves had five kills and two blocks for the Knights (4-2).

Jean Hogan had six aces and Ellie Burke had added kills for the Gaels (0-5).

Saint James 3, St. John's 0

FREDERICK, Md. --Jordan Wills had six aces, seven kills and eight digs to lead Saint James to a 25-23, 26-24, 25-14 sweep of St. John's Catholic Prep.

Taylor Deveaux had five aces and eight kills, Myers Rhoad had three aces and six assists and Carrie Spicher added 11 assists for the Saints (1-3).

New Life 3, Shalom Christian 0

FREDERICK, Md. --Kelsey Ebersole had 11 digs and seven assists for Shalom Christian Academy in a 25-20, 25-19, 25-7 loss to New Life Christian in the MDCC.

Stacey Thrush had seven digs and three kills, Morgan Brockman had 12 digs and Rebekah Mowen added four aces for the Flames (4-4, 3-4).
