The third annual Maugansville tractor, car and motorcycle show will be Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Maugansville Bible Brethren Church parking lot at 17904 Binkley Ave. in Maugansville.

There is no registration fee. Dash plaques will be given to the first 50 people to register. There will be free rides on Thomas the Tank Engine and free children's games and food vendors.

Dance and fly-in

The Hagerstown Aviation Museum will host the fourth annual 1940s Big Band Dance Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Hagerstown Regional Airport Terminal along Showalter Road.


The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with a patriotic fly-over of 1940s airplanes, and dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. The dance will feature a variety of 1940s music performed by the Martinsburg (W.Va.) Big Band, provided through the financial contribution of the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Dressing in 1940s clothing is encouraged, but optional. Food and refreshments are included in the ticket price, and a cash bar is available. Tickets cost $25 each.

The dance will be held the same weekend as the annual Hagerstown fly-in, scheduled for Sept. 25 and 26. The Hagers-town Aviation Museum will have displays at the event, featuring aircraft and items from the museum's collection.

The museum's $2,000 raffle drawing will be held during the fly-in on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. Raffle tickets will be on sale during the fly-in and at the Big Band Dance. For more information, go to and click on "raffle."

Church event

Maugansville Bible Brethren Church, at 17904 Binkley Ave. in Maugansville, is a place where everyone can discover Christ, build relationships and strengthen families according to the Word of God.

The church is offering a club, known as AWANA, where children and families can go to make friends. The club is open to the following ages: "cubbies" for boys and girls, ages 3 and 4 (must be 3 by Sept. 1 and potty-trained); "sparks" offered to boys and girls from kindergarten through second grade; "T&T Boys" from grades three to six; and "T&T Girls" from grades three to six.

All clubs meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:25 to 8. While the child is in AWANA, the parents are invited to join the evening adult/services from 7 to 8 p.m. There will also be classes for teens in grades seven through 12, meeting from 7 to 8 p.m.

An AWANA club meeting consists of games, achievements and a Bible story time. There are also additional special activities throughout the year. AWANA runs from September through the end of April.
