Child car seat instruction offered

September 16, 2010

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. -- The Franklin County (Pa.) Department of Emergency Services has started offering free child car safety seat installation guidance at its facility near Letterkenny Army Depot.

Every year, nearly 1,400 children are killed in car crashes and more than 185,000 are injured, according to a news release.

The use of car safety seats by children and infants can increase the likelihood of surviving a crash by 54 percent to 71 percent, the news release stated.

To schedule an inspection, call 717-264-2813.
