"Whatever happened to respecting other people's property? I didn't know when I purchased my house, which is on a corner lot, that it was used for a shortcut for the entire development. I was off the other day, and to my amazement the parents cut through my yard with their child, so how are the children going to learn respect when the parents are doing it, too? Guess I will chalk this up to a learning experience and will never purchase on a corner lot again."

- Smithsburg

"Hi, I'm running for president. If I make it, I will give you a free ride to work and give you a job. After I'm elected, I will take them both back from you. Thanks for your vote."

- Hagerstown

"Individuals irritated by nosy neighbors usually are doing something illegal, and get caught doing it."

- Hagerstown

"A big thank you goes out to the 167th Air Guard in Martinsburg, W.Va. You did an amazing job hosting the Thunder event. It was truly amazing, and it was a great pleasure to watch. Thank you very much."

"Regarding television, I have come to believe that every 30 minutes of programming consists of five minutes of programming and 25 minutes of commercials."

- Hagerstown

"Let us not be critical of the tea party. This group has the entire country at heart, to restore honesty, integrity and freedom in government - unlike other demonstrating groups with their own personal wishes and agendas. Don't judge your politicians by what laws they have helped pass. Many laws have taken away freedom and have raised our taxes."

- Falling Waters, W.Va.

"A very grateful thank you to good Samaritan Barry, who offered help when my car developed problems this past Friday. ... I did arrive home safely, and your help was very much appreciated."

- Hagerstown

"I was so happy to read that the cat that was bit by a snake in Mount Lena is recovering. By you getting her to the vet for medical help shows that you are a responsible pet owner. Way to go. Wish everyone would take your example to heart."

- Clear Spring

"It's amazing how in Hagerstown if somebody swings a baseball bat or kicks a soccer ball, we can write 10 pages about it, but when 16 teams play football games in two days, we get one-quarter of an article in one piece of the paper. How about a little bit better coverage of the football around here, like we do the baseball and the soccer?"

- Maugansville

"I don't like the lies some politicians keep saying about the estate tax, or death tax. They will expire next year, and I think they should. None of us ever pay estate taxes, because you can inherit $1 million and not pay inheritance taxes. A farmer can leave his children a farm and they will not pay taxes. Most all farms here are no more than one half a million. Some politicians scare us and make us believe we will all pay inheritance taxes, just so we will vote for them."

"I'd like someone to explain to me, how can God bless a nation that legalizes abortion, the slaughter of little babies in the womb, and legalize same-sex marriages? I can't understand that, how we can pray and ask God to bless us, when we continue to do these things. Now, I know there's a lot of people out there who don't believe in abortions and same-sex marriages, so we got to pray that these things will come to an end ... have a nice day."

- Hagerstown

"Adultery is a married person having sex with someone other than their own spouse. Voluntary sexual intercourse between unmarried persons is fornication. These two sins, along with other sins, are listed in the book of Galatians, chapter 6, as being sins that will keep those who commit them from ever entering the kingdom of heaven. Although God is against divorce, He does not list it as keeping us out of heaven."

- Hagerstown

"I'm a lifetime member of this community. I'm in my 80s, and I still remember what FDR told us when he was elected. The only thing we had to fear is fear itself. Now, this is a wonderful country, and I hope and pray that the people don't go backwards."

- Hagerstown

"Why can't this paper print where there is bingo being played every night? Why can't they put a schedule in the paper where we can go play bingo and what night it is and what time? What is wrong with this paper? I've been asking since last November would someone please put a schedule in there of where you play bingo on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday? What is wrong with this paper?"

- Washington County

"Democrats had the vast majority in the House and the Senate for three and a half years. They could have done anything they wanted, and they didn't do anything. And President Obama's been in charge for 19 months, and all he's really done was push health care along. He didn't worry about the economy. Like I was saying, the vast majority of the American people are sick and tired of them pointing fingers at everyone, the Democrats. Start doing your job or look for a new one."
