Taste of the Town will be held at Waynesboro Country Club

September 16, 2010

WAYNESBORO, Pa. -- The second annual Waynesboro Area Taste of the Town will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Waynesboro Country Club.

The tasting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until 8:30 p.m. It is sponsored by WaynesboroFest Inc.

"Taste of the Town" is not a sit-down meal, but rather a tasting of a variety of dishes. Sixteen different restaurants, caterers or chefs will provide guests with a two-ounce portion of their signature food or a new variation of a famous recipe.

Side dishes will complement many of the vendors' main food selections.

Guests will circulate at random throughout the ballroom and dining room of the country club to sample.

High tables will be scattered throughout the facility for guests' use while trying the variety of foods available. Pianist Dennis Hoke will provide dinner music, and the room will be decorated with fresh flower arrangements from the gardens of the Blue Ridge Garden Club and the Toll Gate Garden Club. Artwork will decorate the rooms, thanks to the members of the Waynesboro Studio Art Club.

Returning to this event this year are Executive Chef Mike Mahr; Margaret Schmelzer, a pastry chef from the Burgundy Lane Bed & Breakfast; Jade Cottage Caf, which has a new location on West Main Street; TranquiliTEA with its new owners; chef Kris LeHardy of the Waynesboro Country Club; and Zoe of Zoe's Chocolates.

New vendors include Red Run Grill of Rouzerville, Pa.; Krystal's Cakes and Confections; Founders Grille Restaurant from Penn National Golf Club; Rolling Mill Restaurant of Rouzerville; The Waynesburger of downtown Waynesboro; China Maple of Rouzerville; Sweet Concessions by chef Josh Stevens at the Antietam Diary; The Parlor House restaurant at the South Potomac Shopping Center; Grayson Bowman, cooking school instructor at the Kitchen Shoppe and caterer; and Mathias' Restaurant at the corner of Cleveland and Ridge Avenues.

Business casual dress is requested.
