Do you have a great idea for Washington County?

The Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area, a state heritage area, announces the FY11 mini-grant program.

HCWHA is offering competitive mini-grants of between $500 and $2,500 to heritage sites, nonprofit organizations, and government units within the heritage area (Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties in Maryland).

Grants will be awarded to people who develop new and innovative programs, partnerships, exhibits, tours, events and other heritage tourism-related initiatives that are consistent with the goals and priorities stated in the HCWHA management plan available at http://www.heartofthecivilwar.org.

A FY11 mini-grant workshop will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, at the Carroll County Office Building, Room 105, 225 N. Center St., Westminster, Md. RSVP to info@heartofthecivilwar.org">info@heartofthecivilwar.org.

Attendance is encouraged but not required.

The mini-grant deadline in FY11 is Thursday, Nov. 18.
