Board of Education plans meeting on specialized programs

A general information session about K-12 academy, specialized, signature and magnet programs for Washington County Public Schools will be Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. in the auditorium of Washington County Technical High School.

Students and parents will learn about the magnet programs at Boonsboro, Fountaindale, Emma K. Doub and Williamsport elementary schools and Springfield, E. Russell Hicks and Boonsboro middle schools.

Academies and specialized programs are available at Clear Spring, North Hagerstown, South Hagerstown, Tech High and Williamsport high schools.

Other programs include the Fire and Rescue Academy presented by the Washington County Fire and Rescue Association and a plumbing and HVAC program at the Barr Construction Institute.

Also, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts presents a full academic program and specialized instruction, training and performance experiences in the fine arts for high school students who are accepted into the program.

A comprehensive calendar containing information about open house programming, application deadline dates, information about audition and testing dates, and acceptance notification dates was sent home with all students Sept. 9 and 10.

This calendar is posted on the WCPS website and will be available at today's meeting at Tech High.
