MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Harry B. Rambo, 85, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., died at his home Sept. 8, 2010.

Born April 13, 1925, in Natrona Heights, Pa., he attended Purdue University, North Carolina State and graduated from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Most of his schooling took place as part of the ROTC program during World War II. He was very proud of the fact that his diploma was presented by Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Harry worked at Allegheny Energy for 42 years, ending his career as the head of the rate department in Hagerstown, Md. He was also a charter member of the Leitersburg Lions Club and was active in the organization for many years. Harry was an avid reader and a member of the Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church in Garden City, S.C.

He is survived by Ann G. Rambo, his wife of 62 years; sister, Helen King and her husband Steven and family of N. Chatham, Mass.; daughter, Elizabeth Temple and her husband David of Chattanooga, Tenn., and daughter Nancy Bachtell and her husband Richard of Hagerstown, Md. He is also survived by one grandson, Christopher, his wife Kristi, and his two great-grandchildren, Caleb and Cody of Hagerstown, Md.


The family expresses appreciation to the Heartland Hospice and Comfort Keepers for their support and assistance.

The family will hold a memorial service in Hagerstown, Md., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1750, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
