Tyler Beard of the Hagerstown Braves was recently named 2010 Most Valuable Player for the Blue Ridge Adult League.
In addition, Beard -- a Williamsport High School graduate -- was named to the National Semi-Pro Baseball Association All-American first team along with teammate Kent Worthington, who is pitching professionally in the Frontier League.
Beard led the Braves with a .441 batting average, 49 hits, 19 stolen bases and 31 runs scored and had three home runs and 17 RBIs.
Matt Ridenour was selected to the national second team.
Beard, Worthington, Ridenour, Dave Warrenfeltz, Fred Kreiger and Marcellus Sumlin were voted to the all-Blue Ridge Adult League team.
