Two-vehicle crash causes I-70 backup

September 10, 2010|By HEATHER KEELS

A backup Friday afternoon on westbound I-70 near Hagerstown was caused by a two-vehicle crash just before 2 p.m., Maryland State Police Sgt. S. Cain said.

The crash occurred in the westbound lanes near the 25-mile marker, just west of the I-81 interchange, and resulted in one lane being blocked for about 45 minutes, Cain said. It involved a Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV and a full-sized Chevrolet pickup truck, she said. One person was taken to Washington County Hospital with minor injuries, Cain said.

Following the first crash, there was a minor crash involving four vehicles in the backup, she said. That crash occurred near Sharpsburg Pike, she said. No injuries were reported from that crash, Cain said.
