New HCC student parking lot expected to open Monday

September 09, 2010

Overflow vehicles are seen parked on the grass Thursday at Hagerstown Community College. The situation will change Monday when the college is scheduled to open a new 450-space student parking lot to accommodate its growing enrollment, HCC spokeswoman Beth Stull said Thursday.

"We tried our best to have it ready for the beginning of the semester but things don't always occur as planned," she said.

Stull said the college's enrollment of 4,851 is up 430 students, or almost 10 percent, from last fall's enrollment.

The new parking lot is behind the existing student parking lot that drivers see on their left as they approach the Athletic, Recreation and Community Center driving clockwise around Scholar Drive.
