Ellsworth Tolbert (E.T.) Michael, 88, of 1070 Matthew Court, Hagerstown, Md., died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 25, 1922, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Ellsworth T. and Goldie Leona Tedrick Michael.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosalee Peer Michael, in 1978.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy as a seaman first class on the U.S.S. Neeches in the South Pacific.

He was employed with Fairchild Industries.

He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, Md., and served as an elder and trustee.

He joined U.A.W. in 1942 and was past president of Local No. 842 for five years. He was regional director and international board member of the U.A.W. for 27 years. He was a member of Medairy Lodge No. 140 A.F.&A.M., Williamsport, Ali Ghan Temple of Cumberland, Md., Scottish Rite of Cumberland (32nd degree), Elks Lodge 378, Williamsport American Legion 202 and AARP.

He is survived by his second wife, Jean Michael; two daughters, Rosalee Marianne Hayes of Waynesboro, Pa., and Joyce Foley of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sons, Earl E. Michael of Mercersburg, Pa., and Phillip Anthony Michael of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Reinhart of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one stepson, George R. Karn II of West Virginia; a half brother, Donald McBee of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Michael, in 1956; and four sisters, Ada Pentoney, Catherine Hovermale, Nettie McBee and Ella Dick.

Funeral services will be at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Saturday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Mark A. Sandell and the Rev. Norman G. Price will officiate. Burial will be in Spohrs Crossroad Cemetery in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

Family will receive friends at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 10813 Donelson Drive, Williamsport, MD 21795.
