WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Mrs. Joice Annette (Wolf) Barton, 81, of 10494 Buena Vista Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., passed away peacefully in her sleep, at 5:33 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill, Pa. She had been critically ill for the past four weeks.

Born March 19, 1929, in Smithsburg, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe and Daisy (Wolfe) Wolf.

Mrs. Barton was a graduate of Smithsburg High School, with the class of 1948.

She and her husband of more than 60 years, Mr. Charles F. "Fred" Barton, were married Oct. 5, 1949, in Funkstown, Md. They had lived at their present residence since 1987.

Mrs. Barton was primarily a homemaker and had been employed by the Washington County Board of Education for a number of years.

She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Waynesboro.

In early years, Mrs. Barton enjoyed dancing and traveling. She also enjoyed cooking, baking and decorating her home.


In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Curtis Wolf and his wife, Joanne, of Towson, Md.; and a sister, Janice Munson and her husband, Kenneth, of Smithsburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Walton Wolf and John Elbert Wolf.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with the Rev. Dr. A. Robert Cook officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, at the convenience of the family.

The family will receive friends one hour before services Thursday morning at the funeral home.
