WINCHESTER, Va. - Julia "Libby" Elizabeth (Coulter) Cronise, 93, of Winchester, Va. and formerly of Boonsboro, passed away at her home Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, while surrounded by her family.

Born March 29, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Milton S. and Ida Bell (Deener) Coulter. Her husband, Bruce E. Cronise Sr., preceded her in death in 1954.

Julia and her husband owned and operated Cronise Express in Boonsboro for many years. She later retired from Canter Oil Co. in Winchester, where she worked as a bookkeeper.


She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 824 in Winchester and the Woman of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Libby will be best remembered for her passion for dancing.

She is survived by her son, Bruce E. Cronise Jr. and his wife, Patricia, of Winchester; many nieces and nephews; and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to her husband, Julia was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth E. Favorite; and her three brothers, Lee V., Austin M. and Edward W. Coulter.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro. The Rev. R. Thomas Fralin Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Boonsboro Cemetery.

Friends may visit beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
