Hagerstown Community Concert Association Inc. announces its 2010-2011 season schedule of events. All performances are at The Maryland Theatre in Hagerstown.
o Jim Witter: The Piano Men performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6. The "Piano Men" is a parallel musical journey of the songs, piano stylings and voices of two of pop music's most popular artists of the 1970s and '80s: Billy Joel and Elton John. Also, the Community Concert Outreach Program will sponsor a Witter performance for Washington County students at the Maryland Theatre.
o The Great American Songbook is scheduled at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. Each chapter of the songbook is brought to life through performances by a cast of eight performers and a jazz trio with stage sets, costumes and choreography.
o Eric Himy, pianist, performs at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 8. Praised for his technique and wit, Himy has been compared by the 2007 Revue Musicale de Suisse Romande to that of pianist Vladimir Horowitz. In concert, Himy garnered critical acclaim for stepping in at the last minute to save the local Maryland Symphony Orchestra's Chopin program this past spring. Himy will perform a Community Concert Outreach program for local school students at 10 a.m. at The Maryland Theatre.
