Woman, 86, killed in Franklin County crash

SPRING RUN, Pa. -- An 86-year-old Mount Union, Pa., woman died following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in Franklin County, Pennsylvania State Police said in a news release.

The woman was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Geo westbound on Pa. 641 at 9:31 a.m. when it entered the path of a 1992 Ford L8000 dump truck traveling southbound on Pa. 75.

The dump truck struck the passenger side of the Geo, police said.

The woman was extricated from the wreckage by the Fannett-Metal Fire & Ambulance Co. and flown to York (Pa.) Hospital, where the was pronounced dead, according to police. She was not wearing a seatbelt, police said.

The driver of the dump truck, a 51-year-old Newburg, Pa., man, was not injured, the release said.

Police did not release the names of either of the drivers.

Pa. 641 and Pa. 75 were closed for about three hours after the crash, police said.
