Mrs. Clemma L. (Minnich) Cordell, 79, a resident of Quincy Village, and formerly of 526 S. Church St., Waynesboro, Pa., died Tuesday evening, Aug. 31, 2010, at Washington County Hospital, Hagerstown, Md.

Born Dec. 28, 1930, in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Christian H. and Mary C. (Rossman) Minnich. She was a lifelong resident of the Waynesboro area and a resident of Quincy Village since June 2007.

Mrs. Cordell graduated from Waynesboro High School with the class of 1948.

She and her husband of over 59 years, Fred E. Cordell, were married Jan. 19, 1951, in Hagerstown.

Mrs. Cordell was a switchboard operator for United Telephone Company and also for the State of Pennsylvania at South Mountain Restoration Center.

She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, a member of Waynesboro Fish and Game, and a life member of Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1758, all of Waynesboro. She was also a member of South Mountain Fish and Game, South Mountain Fire Co. and the National AARP.


Mrs. Cordell enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing Bingo and working in the flower gardens. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Karen E. Brechbiel and husband Gordon, Emily F. Myers, and Jo-Ellen Snyder and husband Randy, all of Waynesboro; one son, Mark D. Cordell and wife Kimberly of Waynesboro; six grandchildren, Andrew Brechbiel, Danielle Cox, Jason Myers, Justin Myers, Jessica Snyder and Corey Cordell; two great-grandchildren, Alaina Cox and Eliza Brechbiel; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, seven brothers and three sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Pastor Richard Daughtridge officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
