Man sentenced for possession of child pornography

Roger L. Stotler was sentenced to 10 years and 10 days in prison

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- A man convicted of 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography was sentenced this week to 10 years and 10 days in prison, Berkeley County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gregory Jones said in a news release.

Roger L. Stotler, 46, of 16 Retirement Lane Martinsburg was sentenced on Monday by 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Christopher C. Wilkes, according to the release.

Stotler also was ordered by the judge to serve 10 years of supervised release for sex offenders upon his release from prison, according to Jones.

The defendant also is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, Jones said in the announcement.

In October 2009, images of child pornography were found by West Virginia State Police on a computer at Stotler's home after a search warrant was executed, according to court records.

Stotler was arrested by police in Ocean City Md., in November where he was found walking along Coastal Highway, according to police and court records. State Police Sgt. D.E. Boober investigated the case.
