James Franklin Stockslager, 81, of 10814 Clinton Ave., Hagerstown, Md., died Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at his home.

Born Aug. 3, 1929, in Hagerstown, Md., he was the son of Catherine E. Troupe Stockslager and late Charles W. Stockslager Sr.

He was retired from McCrory's as store manager after 38 years of service.

James was a member of Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.

He was a member of Hagerstown Fire Police for eight years and a member of the Hagerstown Junior Fire Co. Engine 3.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Pat Wishard; one daughter, Karen Stockslager Diller; two sons, Larry J. Stockslager and Gary L. Stockslager; one brother, Charles W. (Bucky) Stockslager Jr.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one niece, one nephew and two great-nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hagerstown Church of the Brethren, 15 S. Mulberry St., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Edward L. Poling will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.


The family will receive friends Thursday at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md., from 7 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hagerstown Church of the Brethren.
