FREDERICK, Md. -- Stevey Markovich had a goal and an assist as Hood College blanked visiting Goucher College in the season opener for each team.

Cara Jordan and Jessica Devine each had a goal, Amanda Hutzell had an assist and keepers Rachelle Buhrman and Kirsten Cacciola combined for the shutout.


Shalom 3, Calvary 2

CRESAPTOWN, Md. -- Holly Andreine had 17 kills and 35 digs for Shalom Christian, which overcame a two-game deficit to notch a 23-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-6 road win Tuesday in the Mason Dixon Christian Conference.


Stacey Thrush added 28 service points, including five aces, and nine kills for the Flames. Rebekah Mowen had 26 digs and 11 service points, Morgan Brockman had 27 digs and Kelsey Ebersole added 24 assists.

Williamsport alumni soccer

Williamsport High School will host an alumni soccer match on Oct. 9 at 6 p.m. The event will benefit the Alzheimer's Association.Past players are invited to participate however they are able, and the format will be odd graduation years against even graduation years.There will be a $20 fee to cover the shirt and a donation to the Alzheimer's Association. Admission to the event will be free, but donations are welcomed. Anyone wishing to play should contact coach Chris Downs at 301-730-8597.
