Chewsville Lions



The Chewsville Lions Club will host District Gov. Richard Liebno at its meeting Sept. 7 at 6:15 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church on Twin Springs Road in Chewsville.

Also, the club will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, Sept. 25, along Md. 64 in the lot on the left between the big white apartment house and the pool business before the turnoff to White Hall Road.

Anyone wishing to donate items for the sale can drop them off at Bethel United Methodist Church in the hallway at the white door entrance off the parking lot. Make sure all electronic items are in working order. No TVs will be accepted.

Variety will perform Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Pen Mar Park as the summer music series continues.

Spaghetti dinner set



An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner will be Saturday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Christ's Reformed United Church of Christ in Cavetown.

The menu includes spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert.

Tickets cost $7 for adults and $5 for those ages 7 to 12. Those 6 and younger eat free. Carry-out orders will be available.

HCC golf tournament



Hagerstown Community College's Alumni Association will hold its 18th annual golf tournament Friday, Sept. 24, at noon at Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown.

The tournament is open to the public and will feature a four-person scramble format. Cost is $95 per person and includes cart and greens fees, cart lunches, refreshments, post-tournament buffet dinner and awards banquet, as well as individual and team prizes.

Participants will have chances to win a new automobile, cash, cruise and airline tickets, pro shop gift certificates and golf equipment.

Sponsorships are available for individuals and corporations. Corporate sponsorship is $575, which includes tee and green sponsorship and a foursome. Other sponsorships include a bring a foursome sponsorship for $385; a cart lunch sponsorship for $700; a beverage cart sponsorship for $500; an awards dinner sponsorship for $1,500; a tee or green sponsorship for $125; and/or a cart sponsorship for $75. Ads can be placed in the golf program for $50. Individuals can be recognized as tournament patrons for $35. Proceeds from the golf tournament will benefit the college.

Yard sale set for Saturday



Habitat for Humanity's Apostles Build Project will hold a multifamily yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 11918 Peacock Trail (off Robinwood Drive) in Hagerstown.

All proceeds go to the Apostles Build Project.
