Community Band to hold fall rehearsal

The first fall rehearsal for Williamsport Community Band is Sunday, Sept. 12, from 2 to 4 p.m., in Springfield Farm Barn. New members are always welcome and are asked to bring a music stand.

The band, under the direction of Suzie Kunkle, has entertained residents throughout the summer.

Zumba classes begin

Fall and winter Zumba classes begin Tuesday at St. Mark's Community Hall, 18313 Lappans Road. The 13-week sessions incorporate basic dance steps to Latin rhythms with standard fitness moves and core work.

Two one-hour classes will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, beginning at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. Choose from single evening sessions or sign up for both. A portion of the proceeds goes to the church.

Low Country Boil

The annual Low Country Boil to benefit Habitat for Humanity's Apostles Build Project will be Saturday, Sept. 11, from 5 to 10 p.m.

Dinner will be served from 6 to 8 p.m.

The event will be held at the Wright Farm, 15544 Dellinger Road in Williamsport, rain or shine.

The menu will include a mix of shrimp, kielbasa (sausage), corn-on-the-cob and potatoes boiled in a mild crab seasoning. The menu also will include hot dogs, homemade desserts, sodas, lemonade and water.

The event will include music, horse-pulled wagon rides, corn hole toss, volleyball and a bonfire.

Proceeds benefit the Habitat for Humanity Apostles Build project and other local charities.

Tickets cost $20 per person or $35 per couple. Tickets are on sale now through Sept. 6.

Red Men yard sale to benefit CAC

The Improved Order of Red Men Tribe 84 will hold its annual yard sale Saturday, Sept. 11, from 6 a.m. to noon at the pavilion, 16129 Lappans Road.

There will be a concession stand serving breakfast and lunch and a bake sale table.

Tables cost $15 each under the pavilion. Bring your own table(s) and set up outside the pavilion for $10 per table.

All proceeds from table sales, concession stand and bake sale will benefit Washington County Community Action Council Inc.

Fall exercise classes to be offered at 4-Star

The Washington County Recreation Department is offering two fitness classes at 4-Star Fitness Center, 30 Milestone Drive, taught by certified instructor Donna Gamble.

"Exercise in Williamsport Step It Up" is a moderately paced step class. Participants benefit from strength training, stretching and floor work. The class will be Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 13 to Dec. 8, from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m.

The "Total Fitness Workout" is an hour of low-impact aerobics. Adults of any age define a personal workout to suit their fitness needs. Participants will improve flexibility and learn toning techniques.

Daytime classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 14 to Dec. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m.

Evening classes are Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 13 to Dec. 8, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Cost is $45 for county residents and $55 for nonresidents. The class costs $36 for senior citizens (55 and older). Call 240-313-2805 for registration information or go to Look for "Fall Recreation Programs."

Clothes of Hope schedule for September

Clothes of Hope Ministries at Williamsport United Methodist Church, 25 E. Church St., provides gently used and some new clothing. It will be open Thursdays, Sept. 9 and 23, from 9 a.m. to noon; and Mondays, Sept. 13 and 27, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Clothes of Hope will not be open on Saturdays this month.

There is no charge for the clothing. Monetary donations are appreciated.

The ministry will be open Thursday, Sept. 16, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. to collect clothes only.
