Hawks shut out NOVA in men's soccer

WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- Garrett Hajjar and Andrew Fowkes each scored a goal and Hagerstown Community College improved to 2-0 with a 2-0 victory over Northern Virginia on Monday.

Michael Reyes and Spencer Leggett each had an assist for the Hawks, while Brian Kukucka had nine saves for his second straight shutout.


Beaver Creek women win

GLENWOOD, Md. -- The Beaver Creek Country Club tandem of Dixie McNaney and Mary Beth Lesher teamed to win the Maryland State Golf Association Women's Mid-Handicap Championship at Cattail Creek Country Club.

The McNaney-Lesher combination went 3-over on the front and 4-over on the back nine for a 78, four strokes ahead of the pack.


It was the third championship in men's and women's golf this year in a team format for Beaver Creek.
