CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Nicole L. Malott graduated in May at commencement exercises at Wilson College.

She received a bachelor of arts in equestrian studies.

She was also named to the dean's list for the spring semester. She received the Senior Equestrian Award, and is in the "Who's Who Among Students of American Universities and Colleges 2010."

She is a 2006 graduate of South Hagerstown High School.

Nicole is the daughter of Kay Malott, granddaughter of Harold King, both of Hagerstown, and god-daughter of Dick and Cheryl Cline of Falling Waters W.Va.




CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Shannon Marie Fowkes of Smithsburg graduated magna cum laude from Western Carolina University.

She earned two bachelor of science degrees in business administration in both accounting and finance. She was a member of the Honors College and graduated with full honors in that program. She was on the dean's list every semester.

Shannon was a four-year starter on the women's soccer team. WCU women's soccer team won the 2008 Southern Conference Championship and earned a berth to the NCAA tournament. Shannon earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors two times in her career.

Shannon is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society, Accounting Club, and Mortar Board. She was a four-year member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee in which she served one year as treasurer. She was also an undergraduate research assistant in the College of Business.

She is employed at Smith Elliott Kearns & Co., LLC in Hagerstown in the auditing department.

Shannon is the daughter of Bill and Jill Fowkes of Smithsburg.




CUMBERLAND, Md. - The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the summer session at Allegany College of Maryland:

James L. Prichard of Frederick, Md.; Jared E. Reichert of Hagerstown; and Jessica E. Smith of Warfordsburg, Pa.




CANTON, N.Y. - Gregory Stoner of Shippensburg, Pa., studied in Kenya this summer as a participant in St. Lawrence University's Summerterm course there. A member of the class of 2012 at St. Lawrence, in Canton, New York, Stoner is a graduate of Shippensberg Area High School.

Participants took the course Health Care Delivery in a Developing Country, examining health care in Africa using a background of world politics and economics, as well as translating international statistics into living situations and human contexts.

Stoner is a biology major at St. Lawrence.




MADISON, N.J. - Stephanie Austin of Chambersburg, Pa., a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham, has been named to the honor's list for the spring semester.




HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Juniata College:

Sara Marie Bean of Greencastle, Pa., is a senior in communication and art. Bean, the daughter of Andrew and Michelle Bean, is a 2007 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

Jordan Elizabeth Bohrer of Needmore, Pa., is a sophomore in psychology. Bohrer, the daughter of William Bohrer and Vicki Ott, is a 2009 graduate of McConnellsburg High School.

Lindsey Meredith Draper of Mount Airy, Md., is a graduate in biology. Draper, the daughter of Randal and Denise Draper, is a 2006 graduate of Linganore High School.

Jessica Rae Hafer of Greencastle, Pa., is a graduate in psychology with secondary emphasis in math and women and gender studies. Hafer, the daughter of Brian and Joanne Hafer, is a 2006 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

Briahnna Leigh Hoover of Needmore, Pa., is a sophomore in English and psychology. Hoover, the daughter of Christopher and Susan Hoover, is a 2009 graduate of McConnellsburg High School.

Andrew Thomas Orsie of Summit Point, W.Va., is a junior in theatre and historical studies. Orsie, the son of Matthew and Jane Orsie, is a 2008 graduate of Jefferson High School.

Jamie L. Pattison of Shippensburg, Pa., is a graduate in psychology. Pattison, the daughter of Michael and Deborah Pattison, is a 2006 graduate of Trinity High School.

Brittany Ann Semler of Greencastle, Pa., is a sophomore in prek-4 certification. Semler, the daughter of Mark Semier and Natalie Perini, is a 2008 graduate of Greencastle-Antrim High School.

Hilary Gayle Walsh of Waynesboro, Pa., is a junior in international business. Walsh, the daughter of Judge Richard J. Walsh and Peggy Walsh, is a 2008 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

Caroline Grace White of Chambersburg, Pa., is a sophomore in prek-4 certification. White, the daughter of Charles and Kathryn White is a 2009 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School.
