Maugansville Pride Day to be held Sept. 4

Maugansville Ruritan Club will hold its 30th annual Maugansville Pride Day Saturday, Sept. 4, at the Ruritan Park.

The event will include craft vendors and lots of homemade food, including Italian sausages, funnel cakes, french fries, ice cream, country ham sandwiches, chicken-corn, ham and bean, and vegetable soups, hot dogs, steamers, hamburgers, cakes, pies and other goodies.

There will be free entertainment by Heavenly Harmony, performing at the opening ceremonies, country and western dance demonstrations, Maryland State Police dog demonstration and live bluegrass music by Stoney Creek Band.

There will be barrel train rides for children. There will also be a "Candidate Karaoke" singalong.

There is plenty of free parking and the only charge is for food.

Pooch Plunge to be held Sept. 8

The seventh annual Pooch Plunge will be Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Claude M. Potterfield Pool, 730 Frederick St. in Hagerstown.


The event will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

Admission is $5 for one dog plus one handler. Additional humans or pets will be admitted for $2 each. For more information, call 301-733-2060, ext. 237.

Wolfgang fundraiser under way at school

Maugansville Elementary School is holding its Wolfgang fundraiser, starting Sept. 1. The sale runs through Oct. 13.

Orders will be available for pick-up at the school Saturday, Nov. 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. Orders can be placed online year-round with the school receiving 50 percent profit. Online orders will be shipped directly to the customer and orders of more than $50 ship for free.

Back-to-school party planned at school

Broadfording Christian Academy, at 13535 Broadfording Church Road in Hagerstown, will hold a back-to-school fundraiser Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will include a cruise-in, music, yard sale, and a food and bake sale. The entry fee for the cruise-in is $3 per vehicle. Dash plates will be given to the first 100 vehicles.

To set up a table to participate in the yard sale, the cost is $15 per table. All proceeds will benefit Broadfording Christian Academy.

Seniors to meet

The Maugansville Senior Friendship Club will meet the first Tuesday of each month from September through June at the Tops Chinese restaurant near the Pennsylvania and Maugans avenues intersection.

The meeting will start at noon.

There will be an installation of officers session and group members will catch up on their summer happenings. Bring a friend. All are welcome to attend. Door prize will be awarded. Also a reminder to bring items for the flea market table.
