Fitness classes offered in Keedysville



A variety of fitness classes are offered at Little Antietam Community Center in Keedysville.

o Pilates mat classes are exercises to improve core strength, posture, flexibility and tone muscles. Pilates is held Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and begins Sept. 7.

o Strong Step is a Jackie Sorensen step aerobics program and is held Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Step classes also begin Sept. 7.

o Yoga begins Saturday, Sept. 11, from 9 to 10 a.m. Bring your own mat to each of these classes.

o A class geared to the Young at Heart is offered Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m. Young at Heart begins Sept. 15 and includes simple low-impact aerobic moves, strength training, flexibility and balance training. Register for this class through Hagerstown Community College Continuing Education Program.

All classes are taught by certified instructor Sandy Ferris, who provides a supportive atmosphere for participants to work at their own levels. Additional information on all classes and their costs is available by calling her at 301-432-5320.

Zumba classes offered at St. Mark's



St. Mark's Episcopal Church, at 18313 Lappans Road in Boonsboro, will offer 13-week sessions of Zumba classes beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 8, at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m.

Choose single evening sessions or sign up for both and receive a discount when taking both sessions.

Blank to speak at Sharpsburg Library



Local author Marilyn Blank will talk about her book, "Have Faith: Live It, Speak It, Believe It, and Survive" Thursday, Sept. 2, at 7 p.m. at Sharpsburg Library. Books will be available for purchase. Phone 301-432-8825 for additional information and/or reservations.

District governor to visit Lions Club



District Gov. Richard "Dick" Liebno will visit the Sharpsburg Lions Sept. 2 during a regular meeting at the den.

The Lions will participate in a singalong Sept. 9 at Fahrney Keedy and join the Taneytown Lions Club to celebrate its 64th charter night Sept. 14.

The Lions will meet again Sept. 16 for their second regular meeting of the month to prepare for the pit beef stand Sept. 18 at Sharpsburg Heritage Day.

Keedysville Ruritan to hold festival



The Keedysville Ruritan will hold a festival Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Taylor Park in Keedysville.

The event will include food, games and live music, including John Holdway, Ticket to Life, the Rohrersville Band and Yesterday's Wine.

The festival will include the Ruritan auction, food, a Salem United Methodist Church pie sale, Red Byrd's Restaurant's soups and vendors.

The auction begins at 6:30 p.m.

Church to hold indoor yard sale



Trinity UCC, at 33 Potomac St., Boonsboro, will hold an indoor yard sale Friday, Sept. 10 and Saturday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Items including books, dishes, bird houses, bird feeders, Christmas decorations and church cookbooks will be for sale.

Spaces are available for $10 per day.
