Pooch Plunge set for Sept. 8



The seventh annual Pooch Plunge will be Wednesday Sept. 8, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Claude M. Potterfield Pool, 730 Frederick St. in Hagerstown.

The event will benefit the Humane Society of Washington County.

Admission is $5 for one dog plus one handler. Additional humans or pets will be admitted for $2 each. For more information, call 301-733-2060, ext. 237.

Diabetes class



The Washington County Health Deptartment will offer a program for individuals who are at risk for developing type-2 diabetes and those with diabetes.

The class will be on Tuesdays from Sept. 28 to Oct. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, at 15 Randolph Ave. in Hagerstown.

The program costs $25.

Zumba classes



Fall is right around the corner ... if you are looking to spice up your workout routine, try these Zumba classes.

Classes will be offered at St. Mark's Parrish House at 18313 Lappans Road in Boonsboro. Sessions will be on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning Sept. 7 and 8. Classes will be at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m.

You can choose a single evening or receive a discount for participating in both sessions.

Not sure what Zumba is? Want to learn? Zumba is exercise done to Latin music. Try the month of September for free with Zumba Gold classes at Christ's Reformed Church, at 130 W. Franklin St. in Hagerstown. Classes start Monday, Sept. 13, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a county commissioners candidates forum today at 7 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 101 S. Prospect St., Hagerstown, lower level of church. Admission is free.
